End-of-Pipe Netting TrashTrap®
The end-of-pipe systems are also modular and are configured to meet site-specific
parameters. These units are typically installed as a retrofit to an existing
outfall structure.
By using the existing structure, the cost and time required for installation
is reduced. For smaller systems the total installation time can be as short
as one day.
As with the in-line units, the disposable mesh nets are held in place by a
framework so that they face the direction of flow. Depending on the height above
grade, the nets are either installed directly into the fixed frame or held within
a removable "basket" to facilitate change out.
The top surface of the unit is either open or covered by lockable grating,
depending on the regulations and security requirements at the site.
A boom truck and crew do servicing of the system in the same way as the in-line
system. Road access to the site for the service truck is required.
A fixed bypass screen above the nets is provided where 100% screening of the
flow is required. The bypass screen also provides additional flow capacity to
prevent surcharging of the sewer lines.
The fixed frame and lifting "basket" are fabricated from stainless
or galvanized steel to ASTM standards. Grating under the nets is provided to
allow them to drain before removal.
FRP or stainless steel grating above the system is supplied where a work surface
is required for servicing the unit.
